About Me
Lizzie Hagstedt hails from Sayville, NY (you don't know where it is, but it's where you go to get the FIre Island Ferry). Beginning with a series of concerts on the lip of her parents' fireplace, she has been performing from an early age.
She graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre and shortly thereafter hit the road with the national tour of Sweeney Todd covering Mrs. Lovett, Pirelli, and the Beggar Woman. Credits include several productions of the new musical Southern Comfort including in 2016 at the Public Theater, playing bass for the New Group production of Sweet Charity starring Sutton Foster, and most recently The Tempest at Roundhouse Theatre directed by Aaron Posner and Teller utilizing the music of Tom Waits with movement by Pilobolus. The show was nominated for 10 Helen Hayes awards.
She is a composer in the BMI Workshop and is currently working on several new musicals. She was a 2021 Jonathan Larson Award finalist and the recipient of a Cross Arts Collaborative residency at the Hermitage Artist's Retreat. Current projects include: Hereville with Robby Sandler (concert readings in summer 2023 at the Old Globe and New Village Arts as part of the Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival and on November 9th, 2023, at the Center for Jewish History); Zitkala-Sa's Wild West with Lisa Helmi Johanson (winner Muriel O'Neil American Heritage Commission through Asolo Repertory Theatre, New Musicals Lab 2024); and Sophie Blanchard's High-Flyin' Rock'n'Roll Extravaganza (2024 Moxie Arts NYC Incubator).
