What's Oneida?
Words by Beth Blatt
Music by Lizzie Hagstedt
The Oneida Community was front-page news in the 1800’s - they coined the expression “free love” and dared to adopt one of the most revolutionary practices imaginable, and yet today they are mostly known for their silverware. This musical tells the story of the story of how a radical utopian society wound up making spoons through the eyes of a young woman learning to value her own unique way of loving and her wonderful imperfections.
With a score that straddles classical music and folk, is designed to be performed by an ensemble cast of actor-musicians.
